Personal Statement

In the 1980’s my children started at our local Infant School in Kettering. I was asked if I would like to become a parent helper. Things back then were very different, printing sheets, mixing paints, sharpening pencils etc. In 1990 I became a Teaching Assistant. Over the last 26 years I have held many roles within the Infant School, one being a Staff Governor for 15 years. I served on various committees and met many difficult challenges.

Over those last years, I have seen how education has changed and how new goals need to be met. I have recently retired from the same school where I was involved in supporting children with speech and language difficulties and children with additional learning difficulties within the Special Educational Needs Framework.

My husband and I worship and are members at Christ the King Church, Kettering. We were informed at church about a new housing estate that was being built within our parish and that a new school was being proposed by Peterborough Diocese. As my role of governor had come to an end at my Infant School I applied to become a governor at Hayfield Cross. I have been involved right from the early stages of planning the school and the appointing of the Head Teacher.
I want to see every child reach their full potential and I want to support all the staff at Hayfield Cross to achieve it. With the new build of the school and all the facilities they offer I feel very privileged to be part of this new venture. I may be one small piece in the jigsaw but believe Hayfield Cross will succeed in becoming a very successful and outstanding school.
