The Bee Barn

🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

Our Eco Club have been chosen to take part in The Bee Barn Project - a project that has them all buzzing! Kettering Nature Group have selected a small number of sites across Kettering to house one of their Bee Barns -  a home for solitary bees to lay their eggs in. Our job is to study the nesting beehaviour of the bees and report our findings back to the group. We have been provided with some wildflower seeds to bee planted around school.   The Barn has been placed on the wall beehind the vegetable patch.

The barn does not introduce any more bees to the local area. It merely provides a home for those already here.  Male solitary bees have no sting and we currently have no known children in school with an allergy to stings. If this changes, the situation will be risk assessed accordingly.
