Clubs & Enrichment

We know Hayfield Cross is an incredible place but also understand that there is more to your child's time in our school than just learning great things through our curriculum.  We appreciate the importance of making sure that our children really get the most out of their time with us and as such aim to provide lots of additional opportunities for them.  Some of these actvities are delivered by expert companies and coaches and come with a cost for parents, whilst others are delivered by our own team free of charge.

Please see below for more details of the ways in which your child's time at Hayfield Cross can be made even more memorable.

Hayfield Cross Extra-Curricular Activities

Team Orange offer a range of exciting activities for the children to access outside of lesson time.  There is the ever-popular crochet club, sessions to develop mindfulness, and sessions to enhance and refine all-important board games skills.  Some of our children are selected to develop computing skills across the school as Digital Leaders, whilst others enjoy Puzzle Magic!  Other popular clubs include our Spiritual Ambassadors who help design and deliver our collective worship sessions; the Eco Club, which promotes sustainability across the school and community; and our Young Voices choir who practise and prepare to join with other schools across the country in a huge concert!  Children will also have the opportunity to join a gardening club, the Times Table Rock Stars club, cheerleading squad and the school newspaper editors!

Children who attend Hayfield Cross can also expect the adults that they work with to make their Primary School days filled with fun and excitement, bringing their leanring to life and making lifelong memories.  Here are just a few examples.

Year Two children visit Hunstanton in the Summer term, applying their geographical knowledge of physical and human features, whilst also celebrating their hard work across the year. Building sandcastles, enjoying an ice cream and embracing the choppy waves of the Norfolk coast is where memories are made and a brilliant way to celebrate the end of a fantastic year of learning!

History Workshops

PTP

OTP

Throughout the year, children in Years 1 to 6 participate in a series of engaging and interactive History workshops, delivered by providers such as 'Off the Page' or 'Portals to the Past'. These workshops offer a hands-on approach, allowing students to immerse themselves in history through role-playing, exploring historical artifacts, and participating in activities that bring different time periods to life. By stepping into the shoes of people from the past, the children gain a deeper understanding of history, fostering curiosity and a lasting connection to each topic they explore.

In the Spring term, our Year 4 pupils have the exciting opportunity to visit York, where they explore its fascinating history. The trip focuses on living history, with York’s past having been shaped by the Romans, Vikings, and Anglo-Saxons, offering pupils a hands-on experience of these ancient civilizations.

As a Church school, we also take a tour of one of Britain’s most famous and awe-inspiring cathedrals, York Minster, allowing the children to connect with the spiritual and historical significance of this iconic landmark.

This trip will provide pupils with the chance to experience life away from home, helping them to develop independence and self-confidence. They will also discover York as a vibrant city, with its unique industries, shopping culture, and tourism, providing them with a fresh perspective on life beyond their local community.

The trip will also foster the development of lasting friendships among Year 4 pupils, strengthening the bonds that will continue to grow as they progress through their school journey.
